Market research surveys: concept, pricing and brand
Build your market research survey with advanced question types, MaxDiff and conjoint designs generated per participant and screening rules. Collect responses from your own audience, or consider the YouReply Participant Panel, a separate service, to reach a target audience.
Market research templates
The Market Research category contains four templates, and the Product and SaaS & Software categories offer related starting points.
Concept Test Survey
For measuring the target audience's first reaction to a new product, packaging or message idea.
Pricing Research Survey
For understanding price perception and willingness to pay.
Brand Awareness Study
For measuring recall and recognition of your brand and other brands in the category.
Competitor Analysis Survey
For understanding how customers compare you with your competitors.
Feature Prioritization and Product-Market Fit
These templates in the Product and SaaS & Software categories support roadmap decisions and measuring product-market fit.
Question types suited to market research
These questions from the Advanced and Choice groups are for preference and perception measurements where classic scale questions fall short.
MaxDiff
Asks participants to pick the most and least important item from sets of options; used to prioritize long lists of features or messages. The design is generated per participant.
Conjoint
Presents profiles built from combinations of attributes and levels to collect data on how price, brand and features affect preference. The profile design is generated per participant.
Card sort
Asks participants to sort cards into groups; useful for menu structure, category and product range decisions.
Heat map
Records the points participants click on an image; useful for understanding which areas of packaging, ads or page designs attract attention.
Text highlight
Lets participants highlight phrases that stand out in a piece of text; useful for ad copy and message tests.
Image choice, ranking and constant sum
Classic market research questions such as choosing between visual options, ranking by importance and splitting a fixed total across options.
Screening the audience and controlling fieldwork
- 1
Put screening questions first
Start with questions such as category usage, age or involvement in purchase decisions, and remove those who do not qualify with the Disqualify action. These participants are listed with a disqualified status on the Responses tab.
- 2
Balance concept order
If participants evaluate several concepts, randomize the items on a page or the fields in a block; use Subset to show each participant only some of the concepts. The order shown is stored with the response.
- 3
Tag the source
To tell apart participants from different sources, add a URL parameter to the link and write it into the response with a Hidden Field.
- 4
Limit fieldwork
Max Responses counts completed responses and closes the survey to new starts once reached. Set the fieldwork period with Start Date and End Date.
- 5
Export and screen the data
Export responses as Excel (.xlsx) with a codebook sheet or as CSV, and use per-question response times to screen out responses completed unusually fast by your own criteria.
Limits you should know about
YouReply Survey has no demographic quotas such as age or gender cells; there is an overall response limit, a date range and screening rules. There is no automatic detection of bots, speeders or repeat responses. Each survey is published in a single language, Turkish or English.
Reaching participants
In YouReply Survey you publish a survey with a share link. You distribute that link yourself to your customer list, your social media accounts or your business partners.
If you need to reach a target audience, the YouReply Participant Panel is a YouReply service offered outside the app and billed separately. Responses from the panel do not count toward your plan limits.
Frequently asked questions
Do you calculate conjoint and MaxDiff results?
No. YouReply Survey generates the design of these questions per participant and collects the responses; importance or utility values are calculated outside the product. You can export the data as Excel or CSV and work on it in your preferred tool or in YouReply Analyze.
Can I set quotas by age and gender?
There are no cell-based quotas. You can cap the total number of completed responses with Max Responses and screen out off-target participants with the Disqualify rule. You check the make-up of your sample yourself in the exported data.
Do panel responses count toward my plan limit?
No. The YouReply Participant Panel is billed separately, and responses from the panel do not count toward your plan limits.
