Palette groups
- Choice: Single Choice, Yes / No, Multiple Choice, Consent checkbox, Dropdown, Multi-select dropdown, Ranking, Image Choice and Constant Sum. For questions where respondents pick from set options or put options in order.
- Scale: Rating, Likert Scale, NPS, Slider, Slider grid, Side by side, Matrix and its variants, plus CSAT and CES presets. For collecting satisfaction, agreement levels and scores.
- Input: Short Text, Long Text, Number, Email, Phone, URL, Date, Date & Time, Time, Date range, Form fields and Address form. For free text and information in a specific format.
- Content: Statement and Section Heading. For descriptions and instructions; they collect no answers.
- Media: Image, Video, Divider, Spacer and HTML. For shaping the visual layout of the survey.
- Advanced: Heat map, Text highlight, Conjoint, MaxDiff, Card sort, File Upload, Signature, Hidden Field and Meta info. Conjoint and MaxDiff designs are generated separately for each respondent.
Validation options
- “Required”: respondents cannot move on without answering.
- Minimum and maximum characters for text questions.
- Minimum and maximum value for number questions.
- Minimum and maximum number of selections for multiple choice.
- An option selected on its own: for example, when “None” is chosen no other option can be checked.
- For Constant Sum, the answers must add up to the total you set.
- Automatic format checks for Email and URL questions.
- “Custom error message”: if left empty, the default message is shown.
There is no regular expression (regex) validation. Answers are validated again on the server when they are submitted.
Consent checkbox and Hidden Field
The “Consent checkbox” preset in the palette can be used to have respondents confirm a notice, such as a KVKK privacy notice, by ticking it. To show a separate consent screen before the survey starts, use “Consent text (optional)” on the Settings tab.
A “Hidden Field” is invisible to respondents; its value is saved with the response. To capture a URL parameter:
- 1Add a “Hidden Field” from the Advanced group of the palette.
- 2Choose “URL parameter” as the source and type the parameter name, for example utm_source. To write the same value into every response, use “Fixed value” instead.
- 3Add the parameter to the end of the share link, for example ?utm_source=newsletter. When the link is opened with this parameter, the value is written into the response.
- 4If the field carries a participant identifier, check “This field identifies the participant”; per-participant randomization uses this value.
Meta info
The “Meta info” element silently records the respondent's browser, platform, language and screen size. If you choose, it also adds the referring page and time zone.
Meta info writes this information into answers even when “Anonymous responses” is on. Do not use it in a survey you announce as anonymous, or tell respondents about it.
File Upload and Signature
- A file can be up to 25 MB.
- Allowed types: images, PDF, DOC/DOCX, TXT and CSV.
- Uploaded files and signatures are stored on AWS S3 in the Frankfurt (Germany) region.
Anyone who has the file link can open uploaded files and signatures. Do not use these questions to collect sensitive documents such as identity documents or medical reports.
Video element
The video element only embeds YouTube or Vimeo videos; video files cannot be uploaded. When you add a video, that service's player is loaded on the respondent's survey page.
